It is believed that alls well that ends well, celebrations that ends with something sweetness leaves a sweet impression on our memory. Cakes are the best sweet that can enhance the taste or enjoyment of any kind of occasion or event.

The tradition of serving cake originated from ancient Roman culture. The word cake has been derived from the Middle English term Kake. The way of making cakes also has been gone through a lot of modification. In ancient times fried breads were served to the guests as a similar kind of food as a cake. Lets discuss about the different types of cakes that are available commonly. According to the ingredients and flavours cakes can be divided into different categories. Next comes pound cake which is similar to butter cake and it is named so as it can be measured in proportions. Sponge cakes are made out of baking soda and lots of whipped eggs, and as per the name suggest these cakes are super soft and comes in different flavours. In france a sponge cake is known as genoise.

Perfect cakes are made by following some techniques and lots of patience. According to the mixing methods cakes can be categorized in few ways. The common way of mixing technique is known as creaming method and used for all the basic and simple flavored cakes. The other methods are blending method, whipped method and so on.
